Writing Update: December 2016 Mega Update

Ahead of my usual Year End wrap-up and goals posts, I’d like to provide an update on all of my current projects.

Cronus Collection – Writing is going well and I have about 18,000 words in my current draft. Most of the material here has already been edited a bit, so I don’t think much will be excluded from the final version coming at the end of 2017. Later this week, I’ll be writing a little bit about the protagonist Leo Ranatas. While the story is the story of a city and has many different main characters from chapter to chapter, Leo’s story will span the entire novel.

Shadow Puppet Mysteries 2 – The scenario for Part 2 was completed some time ago, but I’d like to add more and refine what I’ve written. To be safe, I’m announcing the release date as January 31st, 2017 with the option of launching a little earlier if I’m happy with it before then.

The Library Series – For a few years now, I’ve expressed my desire to update The Library Series. However, working on new projects is important to continuously provide my fans with new content and making it my sole focus would just delay new adventures. At the same time, my first series does need some work as it’s the very first thing I published and I know exactly how to fix it to elevate it to my current standards so…

Next year begins The Library Series Web Novel Project! Starting late January, a new updated chapter from The Library Complex will be released every week! When this work is finished, the book on Kindle will be updated to the new 2017 version. Please look forward to returning to the world of The Library Series with refinements!

Memory Blood Saga – Unfortunately, this is the project that is going to be delayed further. Having just finished the series, the need for a full collection isn’t that high. I still want to fix up the small errors in the text and update all the digital books with the launch of the print book, but for now Memory Blood Saga is being pushed back to mid-2017. Please accept my apologies once more.

Beyond The Memory Blood

Memory Blood Castle has been released and now my second full series has come to its end. I remember having many things to say during the development of The Library Series, but with Memory Blood I’ve put everything I wanted to communicate into the books.

It’s difficult to say much as I’ve already said what I wanted to. It’s been a pleasure to write the books by using my experiences from writing previous stories and by developing new ways to create the best story that I can.

Memory Blood Saga will likely be delayed a bit as I would like to not only ensure there are no typos, but also to ensure that the book is of the highest quality. As Saga is a print book, once it’s published no further changes can be made. It’s important to me that it’s the best version of the series available so I’d like to ask for your patience in waiting for its release. Currently I am in the middle of making slight adjustments to the first book. Once the book is finished, I’ll upload any changes that I made to the first four books and release them as the 2016 Editions. The print book and the digital books will be identical and the series will reach its definitive version.

As I’ve said before, I’d like to do something similar to The Library Series but that would require a lot more work to bring them up to my standards so please forgive me if that takes a long time. As of now it is more of a dream project than one being actively worked on.

This October, RMV Mysteries’ second series debuts. I invite everyone to try to solve the mystery and to share their thoughts with me even if you don’t typically enjoy mysteries. The entirety of the series will be available for free and will be published over the next year or two.

Beyond that, a new novel will debut at the end of 2017. The stage is that vast world containing the continent of Zekkyn and many more. The year is 1187 according to the Imperial Calendar. One year after the Zoth Incident.

Thank you once more to everyone for your support thus far.

Memory Blood Finale

The fourth and last book in the Memory Blood story, Memory Blood Castle, has been completed. The final version has been uploaded to Amazon and will arrive on August 12th as promised. This is both the longest book in the series and the longest book that I’ve ever written, so please look forward to it!

For those who would like to enjoy the complete series in one printed volume, Memory Blood Saga will be released this August as well. Containing 350+ pages and 146,000 words, this book will be available for $14.95. After the book is proofed, I’ll be able to announce the release date.

Arata’raya (Fragment Alpha-10)

Dustin finally stepped through the city gates after hours of wandering through the desert. His skin was dry and irritated from his journey so he made his way to the nearest inn that he could find and paid for a room and as much water as he could afford.

“You’re lucky you didn’t die out there,” the innkeeper remarked. “The heat today has been dreadful.”

“I normally don’t wander the desert, but I was looking for a town that doesn’t exist anymore.”

“Well, you’re a long way from the So’raya crater.”

It was only natural that the innkeeper knew exactly what Dustin was talking about. The sudden destruction of that city still unnerved people even years later. It wasn’t the type of thing to be forgotten and left unmentioned in daily conversation.

During Dustin’s first visit to this world he had fought a great battle that had consumed the whole of So’raya. Having ended up in this same world again, he felt it would only be appropriate to return to the crater and pay his respects to the people that had lost their lives because of him.

“I have no idea where I am,” Dustin admitted with a weak smile. His entire body was fatigued and his mind was weak.

“This is Arata’raya, far to the north of the crater.”

“It was foolish of me to even try to go back there. That would just bring me feelings of sadness and failure.”

“You wouldn’t be the first to dwell on the past. That never ends well. The tragedy of So’raya unfortunately coincided with the disappearance of the evil gods. There are some who think the city was sacrificed to them in exchange for protecting the rest of the world. I think that’s a little disrespectful, but there are new rumors like that surfacing all the time.”

Dustin hadn’t imagined such a legend would spread. It certainly made sense that people might suspect that, but he agreed that it was disrespectful.

“The Corruption has taken human form,” Dustin said. “If he’s defeated, the world might be healed.”

“Now that’s a story I’ve never heard before. Where did you learn about that?”

“From talking flames. I’d like to think they were telling the truth.”

“That desert heat might have gone to your head…”

“It’s taken a toll on me, that’s certain. I think I’m going to go to sleep now. Which way is my room?”

The innkeeper guided Dustin to his room. Once inside, he closed the curtains to block out the sun and sat down on the bed. The blankets were a little rough, but softer than he’d expected. Dustin wrapped himself up in them. Thanks to the water and the relief of finally getting out from under the sun, being wrapped up in fur blankets felt comfortable to him despite the true temperature.

Within minutes, he had descended into the world of dreams. He dreamed of his conversations with the Black Flames and the knowledge they gave to him. He remembered their talks of his birth and his divinity.

And as he descended deeper into sleep, he remembered his time as the leader of the Blood Masters. He had rescued those he deemed to be good and given them power. Then he had abandoned them and failed to protect them.

They awaited his orders no longer. Those who wanted to continue fighting had joined the Archimedes Alliance while the majority dispersed uninterested and dispirited.

It was the biggest failure of his life, the Blood Masters project, and it still haunted his unconscious mind.

Perhaps for good reason.

Perhaps not.

Wrapped snugly in a small room in the middle of a desert, far from his quest to save the world, Dustin slept peacefully.

Discord Complete

Memory Blood 3 has now been completed and is ready to be released on December 29th!

Originally the book was going to have 5 new stories, but in the final release there are only 2 (plus a very short bonus story). First, let me apologize for not communicating this change earlier. Naturally the price of the book has been updated to 99 cents to recognize the fact that it is now similar to a short story in size.

The reason that this happened was mainly due to my optimism at being able to release a book the size of the first two in just four months. Memory Blood Doubt took an entire year from conception to completion so I knew that I was challenging myself when I decided Discord would be released by the end of the year.

While the scope of the book has changed, I am very happy with it. As I always say, I never release anything that I do not believe in. The tone of this book is a little different but I think that it has something unique to offer. It may be a little unexpected or maybe it’s exactly what you would expect after the ending to Memory Blood 2…

As always, feel free to send me your opinions.

Memory Blood 4 will likely be released Summer 2016 so please enjoy Discord while you wait for what might be the big finale!

And, as is traditional, remember to look out for my New Year’s post about what I’ll be working on in 2016.
