Writing Update: August 2014’s End

At the moment I’ve got about 6500 words written for Memory Blood 2. I think a few thousand are representative of the final product, but the others are subject to change. At this stage, many things are still in flux. What type of characters will these people be? What sort of journey will occur at this point and at that? There are many questions that I’m excited to answer as the writing continues.

As always, my hope is to finish writing as quickly as possible so I have lots of time to fine-tune everything. Then again, everything has come together in the amount of time I’ve used for quality checking previously so maybe extra time isn’t necessary at all.

Writing Update: Summer to Winter Edition

If you’ve followed my Twitter, you’ll know that production on Memory Blood 2 is already under way. The total word count so far is about 3,000 words and the main topics of each story have formed in my mind. Recently, I discovered something interesting that’s going to change the way the stories play out and I’m excited by this new development. One of the things that I value most about the writing phase are these discoveries that strengthen the work in unexpected ways.

Additionally, I also spent some time working on a side project for the blog but I decided not to go through with it. I think that there’s a limit to how much something can be broken up. Releasing four books is one thing, but having five-part mini blog series and such things can feel a little disjointed. Even the 7 volumes of The Orin Chronicles feels like a bit much to me and I have the urge to just rewrite them into a slightly more condensed book (not that I’m announcing that I’m doing that). So instead I’m taking this material and saving it for when it becomes relevant in the future.

Also, remember that the Memory Blood release promotion giveaway is still accepting entries through next week! So far I’ve received a sufficient number of entries but I’d like to continue celebrating the book’s launch by giving as many people as possible a chance to win the prize.

The Week Before Memory Blood

I’m finally just recovering from having been sick this past week so I wasn’t able to make as much progress in getting the final version finished as I had wanted to. That being said, there are less than 4 hours of work to be done which leaves me plenty of time before Wednesday when I’ll upload the book to KDP. Then when it’s uploaded I’ll set up the free promotion and begin alerting everyone to the Memory Blood promotional giveaway.

While the full details will be posted next week, here’s how the event will go. Get the book for free next Friday or purchase it any time after to enter the giveaway. Entries will be accepted for a period of 2 weeks and you can also refer friends for bonus entries. You’ll send a screenshot of proof of purchase to my e-mail and then I’ll draw a winner soon after the giveaway ends to receive an Amazon gift card. There will be one winner and the prize will be an Amazon gift card delivered electronically worth at least $25.

I’m very excited for the launch and the corresponding giveaway and I think things are going to go very well! I’d love to hear everyone’s opinions on Memory Blood too so feel free to leave a review, comment here, or send me an e-mail at the address listed on the “New? Start Here” page.

2 Weeks Until Memory Blood!

This week I finalized the first story and began working on finalizing the second. As I’ve re-read older works of mine, I’ve noticed a few typos managed to make it through despite multiple editing passes by two different people so I’m doing my best to make sure I catch every single one for Memory Blood. After the intensity with which I went through the first story, I can’t imagine that there’s a single word out of place and, if there is, I apologize deeply >_<

The issues I’ve faced over the last year have also begun to disappear meaning that my writing will continue to be more and more of a priority through the end of this year and into the next. I’d like to produce a great deal of content for everyone, but I’m keeping things realistic and I’m happy with what I’ve got scheduled so far. One day in the future I’d like to be able to release many stories per year, but for now please enjoy Memory Blood this month and its sequel at the end of the year!
