Writing Update: Not Yet Halloween Edition

It’s 2 AM and I should probably be sleeping. Since I’m not sleeping, I’ve decided to update everyone on Library Series: Book Three.

This book feels like the end of the series, but is it? I’m about halfway through the writing and it seems like everything should be coming to a close, but there’s also a barrier preventing everything from being brought to a close. Right now I am about 50% of the way through the writing and I think that there are two books left in the Library Series. A major part of the story will definitely end in Book Three in a way that made me think “huh, isn’t this end?”. However, I soon realized that I wasn’t thinking deeply enough. Even if that story is brought to a close, it definitely isn’t the ending to the series.

So, I am excited to announce today that the Library Series will see Book Three and Book Four, the latter half of the series, in 2013. This also means that the Library Series will come to a close at that time. I’m very excited for this journey and I think it will be satisfying for the readers. Of course, I’m getting ahead of myself. Book Two was released not that long ago and there’s almost a year left before the end. Then again, as the author it’s necessary to think about these things well in advance.

Ah, I really am troubling myself over the growth of the series in Book Three and into Book Four. I always feel a great satisfaction upon releasing a book and I think Book Three will be the most satisfying to date. If this post doesn’t quite make sense, I apologize… it is 2 AM after all…

Let’s all look forward to a more cohesive post in the future, okay? (Unless this one is already… ah, just hit ‘post’…)

Writing Update: Shaping Book Three Edition

Book Three… the fact that I have already reached this point in the Library Series has caused a healthy amount of stress. The series moves towards its conclusion with this book so it needs to be the best that it can be. I’ve had plans for this book for a long time now, but when I sat down to write the book the structure began to trouble. There are many things I want to do, but how do I arrange them logically?

The writing has begun, with progress being a bit slower than I had anticipated, so I think I have a better idea of what the structure will be. I don’t expect any delays right now, but I’ll apologize if the book takes longer to write than anticipated. The writing of Book Three will be my greatest challenge yet because it is quite an ambitious project. I am confident in my ability to deliver a high-quality release in a timely fashion and I look forward to proving that to myself.

Regarding KDP Select, the free promotions have very much benefited the Library Series and so I am excited to announce that on Tuesday, October 16th, The Weapon of The Kara will be free for another 24 hours (PST)! After this I will have only 1 promotional day left until January so this is a very good chance to get a free copy while you still can.

Writing Update: Book Two Submitted!

After many hours of checking for minor mistakes (hopefully I caught them all), the second book in the Library Series, The Weapon of The Kara, has been submitted. While it will likely be available tomorrow, before the official release date, it will still be free for the duration of October 5th.

I expressed some of my thoughts on completing this book in the Author’s Note, but being able to publicly write about them on my blog is a completely different experience. I’ve put a lot of effort into the series thus far and Book Three is going to take a significant amount of work. I hope to gain new readers with the release of Book Two and I hope everyone can enjoy the experience. Even if everything that I’ve done isn’t seen as a great work of art, all I want is for a few people to have genuinely enjoyed themselves. That’s all the motivation I need to keep writing… actually, I’ll probably keep writing even if that doesn’t happen.

I’ve had a lot of fun with the Library Series so far and even though I am happy to continue it, I’m also a little bit sad that I’m now one book closer to the end. With each book, the ending becomes clearer in my mind and the journey of the characters progresses towards that end and their individual ends. Please look forward to the next book in 2013.
